Once you’re satisfied with how the filler has turned out, it’s time to stain or add a protective layer to your wood. Staining your wood will even out the colour so that you can’t see the difference between the wood and filler colours.
There should be a seamless transition from the filler to wood. However, a varied colour may show as the filler will absorb the stain differently. Adding a protective finish on top of the stain will also help make the colour differences match up more perfectly.
